About

Karavali College of Nursing Science is a dynamic center for nursing education and excellence in Mangalore. The college is located in the Karavali College Building and offers Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Post Certificate in Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Master of Science (Nursing) programmes affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore. All programmes are recognized by Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Nursing Council (KNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC).

The college has not only gained academic excellence but is also proud of producing skilled, committed, conscientious, and confident nursing graduates. Every year the students of this college are placed in top university positions with excellent academic performance. The college has excellent infrastructure and a team of hardworking, versatile and dedicated faculty and staff.

All the nursing educational programs here are organized very carefully to provide broad and in depth knowledge and skills to the students to enable them to function effectively in varied nursing situations where after graduation they may need to function. The students carry out various activities for the social welfare of people living in rural areas and urban slums. Various health awareness camps are organized under the guidance of program officer of the college

Various workshops, conferences, seminars and panel discussions are conducted regularly to help upgrade knowledge and skills of the faculty and post graduate students that are essential to keep pace with the advancement in technology and ever changing trends in the health care system.

 

Aim
  • To provide a broad based education for preparation of nursing personnel at advanced level who can function in a wide variety of setting and contribute effectively towards professional upliftment.
  • To prepare a corps of well qualified nurses who can hold the leadership responsibilities.
  • To Develop ability to appraise research reports critically and acquire competencies in conducting qualitative and quantitative studies in nursing.
  • To promote the deeper study of nursing with a view to prepare them for distinctive positions such as Nurse Specialist, Nurse practitioner, Consultant, Researcher, Educator and Administrator.
  • To explore the areas of higher studies in nursing and to give direction for serving contemporary and future needs of nursing development.
  • To remove the paucity of well qualified nursing teachers/nurse specialist in our country.

Courses Offered

Karavali Institute of Nursing Science offers the following courses in Nursing Sciences. The Institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore and is recognized by Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Nursing Council (KNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC).

 

Bachelor of Science (Nursing)

The B.Sc.(N) course is aimed at preparing the graduates to have independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor, manager in a clinical/public health settings.

 

Eligibility

Candidates who have passed two years P.U.C. (10+2) examination of Karnataka P.U. Board or an equivalent examination of any other approved Board of universities with not less than 45% marks in any combination comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
The Candidate must have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission.

 

Post Certificate in Bachelor of Science (Nursing)

The PC B.Sc.(N) course is aimed at preparing the graduates to have sound theoretical knowledge with skills to assume responsibility as professional nurses for providing comprehensive care to sick and well.

 

Eligibility

A Candidate who is less than 48 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and has passed two years P.U.C. (10+2) examination of Karnataka P.U. Board or an equivalent examination of any other approved Board of universities and has passed GNM and is a Registered Nurse with or without experience is eligible to undertake this course.

 

Master of Science (Nursing)

The M.Sc. is a programme of 2 years duration, in 5 major specialities.

Eligibility

A Registered Nurse with One year of experience after passing B.Sc. (Nursing) with minimum 55% of marks or after passing Post Certificate in B.Sc. (Nursing) based on the date mentioned in the Marks Card is eligible to undertake the Course.
